Leota Drama

Hello!

I have been an educator for the past 30+ years and during that time I've taught just about every grade level, 1st-8th.  In addition, about half of that time I was an elementary school principal in grades K-8, but decided to return to the classroom full time, where the "real fun" was going on!

I am thrilled to be teaching Drama and Computer Lit at LMS this year, and can't wait to work with this talented group of students!

Teaching Background

I grew up in a family of educators so being in a school and classroom feels like home to me.  I love teaching as an adult but didn't always love learning as a child.  I mean, I liked the social aspects of school, but the learning was not very exciting back then.  I've made it my personal mission to try to making learning exciting, interesting, fun, challenging, and meaningful for my students.

The arts have been a huge part of my life since I was a little kid.  Growing up, I wanted to be an actor and luckily I got to do quite a bit of performing throughout my childhood, youth and even adult life.  I started out in college as a musical theatre major but then decided to go into education so I could use the creative arts every day in my career, as well as have some time to continue acting and performing myself.  In the classroom, we will use the arts to bring learning alive and make it more fun, interesting, and relevant.  I have been involved with the arts at the local, state, and national levels and love getting to share my passion for learning through the arts with students, parents, teachers and principals all around.
