We meet on the first and third Wednesday of every month, from 1:50-2:30 after school in Room 902 (Ms. Locke's room)!
We are open to a diverse range of projects and interests, so please feel free to propose any idea you’re passionate about! That said, the project must be realistic, so a proposal of “ensure world peace” isn’t feasible or specific enough to implement. But if you notice a problem that is important to you, for example, the lack of awareness about antibiotic misuse within your school community, this is a great project to pursue with Design for Change. We also want to facilitate scientific research methods to design the best solution to the problem that you want to solve! It’s important to note that we can’t guarantee that your project will be approved since we have limited resources, but you will have the opportunity to work on another important project with other students. Please make sure your proposal is as specific as possible to maximize the chances that your project will be approved!
The DFC "Be the Change" Global Conference is a fully-funded trip that is awarded to one team in each country, chosen by industry experts. Submissions will be in video or PowerPoint format, and previous conferences have been held in Madrid, Spain, Rome, Italy, Taipei, Taiwan, and more.
We want to make this club and this opportunity to create a change open for all students, so we do not plan on having a club fee! However, to help secure funding for projects, we will be hosting fundraising events throughout the year that will need lots of student involvement.
Design for Change provides opportunities to learn important skills such as empathy, teamwork, leadership, strategic-thinking, creativity, and more! In addition, Design for Change provides opportunities for students to make change in issues they truly care about, whether that's food insecurity, healthcare disparity, or climate change.
Members who are pursuing their own projects can choose their own meeting times with their project groups, although all whole club meetings are required for those pursuing projects. All members pursuing a project must keep in touch with Inglemoor Design for Change. But if you would just like to be a part of Design for Change without working on a project (just participating in our activities!), that’s an option as well! You can choose to attend club meetings and activities when you like, although you won’t be able to work on creating your own project.
