Why use manipulatives to learn math?
There are many different kinds of manipulatives that can be used to help students develop and explore math concepts. These can be made, bought or borrowed from the library or learning resource centre. Manipulatives help students expore and understand mathematics and offer concrete ways for students to bring meaning to abstract mathematical ideas. Manipulatives help students to problem-solve and to learn new concepts and relate them to prior knowledge.
