On December 2nd, the MSBSD School Board listened to the 95% Design Approval for the new Houston High School Rebuild. Click HERE to learn more.
On September 15, 2020 the Mat-Su Borough Assembly took action to condemn Houston Middle School. Condemning the building means that the entire building will be demolished. This action was based on a memorandum from the design architect and structural engineer.
Moving forward, the design team will be meeting with school administration to revisit the gymnasium design since that wing previously included a repair to the existing footprint. As the design evolves, it is expected the design will continue to adhere to the overall existing size of the school of approximately 94,000 square feet. In order to qualify for FEMA reimbursement, it is important to maintain the same square footage of the existing building.
