Colony Middle School Students & Families,
This year, we are adding Pre-AP to some of our classes at Colony Middle School. The Pre-AP programs are designed with grade-level instruction that meets the students where they are and helps impart the skills that will help them prepare for high school, college, and beyond. These courses are not advanced or honor courses but simply added supports that augment the teacher's pre-existing curriculum. The following are essential skills that students will work on throughout the Pre-AP classrooms
· Reading for detail
· Creating evidence-based sentences and paragraphs that support opinions
· Ability to interpret various charts and maps
· Use the information to solve common-day problems.
This program is designed to be accessible to every student and focuses on Close Observation & Analysis, Evidence-Based Writing, Higher-Order Questioning, and Academic Conversation.
All students in these classes will be accessing this content in the classroom. Below, we have included the framework guidelines for each course that you are able to review if you have questions about what each class is adding to the pre-existing curriculum.
If you have any questions about Pre-AP, please contact me.
Thanks,
Mr. Kleigh Anderton
