In the quote above, Sacramento City College student Miranda Perez reminds us that our words reflect who we are – that is, as long as we use them authentically. What do you think it means to be authentic, whether that’s in regards to how you speak, write, create, and/or act as you move through the world? Can you bring authenticity into all aspects of your life? Where is it difficult to be your real and true self?

Consider writing about a time when you felt most true to your authentic self, your journey to finding your true self and/or any obstacles you may have faced along the way. You may also consider exploring a time when you weren’t able to be true to yourself.
