The Genre Analysis focused on 1 academic genre and 1 non-academic genre. Through the use of in-class assigned readings, I incorporated at least two important reading quotes to frame my genre analysis presentation. I was able to demonstrate my understanding of the two quotes that relate to ‘how to read like a writer and discourse communities' to demonstrate my understanding of reading and writing for a specific purpose and writing for a specific audience.

In this slideshow, I was able to develop analytical skills and demonstrate critical thinking by creating a solid thesis and supporting my argument by analyzing their choices of at least three linguistic utterances and unpacking their meanings using the framework of Semiotics to support their arguments and discuss cultural influences of the language and images used in the media text. I also analyzed and synthesized the visuals and art of the media text by unpacking the cultural symbolism and social power relations the artists or authors speak to in relation to society and history.
