BIOL 430 is a 5-unit course and successful completion will require a large time commitment. We will spend 9 hours a week together in class, but you should also be prepared to commit at least 10 hours per week outside of class to practice and study on your own. Please build your personal schedule accordingly so you can spend the time necessary to learn and understand course material and so that you may also get the rest needed to be your best you. Good time management will help set you up for success!
Please also be ready to commit to learning on the first day of the semester. Learning course material will take dedicated time and attention - and we will begin on day 1!
You will find class lectures posted as PowerPoint slides in the Canvas unit modules (remember that you must submit the required documents to unlock the unit modules and PowerPoint slides). Please note that the PowerPoint files may take a few moments to load on your computer.
The PowerPoint slides are a good starting point for note-taking purposes, though I will cover much more than they contain. You may print a copy of the lecture slides for note-taking purposes if you prefer. You are also able to download lecture slides and take notes on them using a tablet or computer. If you plan to print or download slides, I recommend doing so prior to coming to each corresponding class this semester. We will cover lecture 1-1 during our first class meeting!
Access to PowerPoint slides for lecture 1-1 (printed or downloaded for note-taking)
Access to your online OpenStax textbook
I will provide you with a printed copy of the lab manual on the 1st day of class if enrolled
