Student Senate President
My reasons for seeking office are my passion for the Sacramento City College student body and to continue to serve the SCC community and make it a better place. As a student who joined SCC within a digital age during the covid pandemic I struggled to feel connected in the beginning to sac city as a whole. Having never visited as a student I wondered where I would find my place amongst the community. Never did I think I would have gained so much passion and pride for a school through virtual learning that I have for the SCC community. Professors, Leadership advisors, and sac city students have made me eager to continue leadership as they are what makes the community great. These people helped me feel more at place and the ability for myself to be able to do that for newer generations of students and or current students is exactly what I want. Sac City is an already great learning community that I’m proud to be apart of and with my continued help in leadership can continue being great.
Club & Events Board President
My name is Hibah Ahmed, and I am running for president of clubs and events board. I want to serve the students while managing clubs and events. I hope to bring students together, provide opportunities to destress, and spread word of events for the benefit of the students. I want to help in the cooperation of the team, and support others in providing and holding clubs and events. I am good for this position because I am responsible, a good manager, a hard worker, and l am good at participating and facilitating the process of making good, efficient decisions. I also have previous leadership experience through being clubs and events board treasurer last semester. I have participated in many projects and events held by leadership. I hope to be a good president and benefit the students of this college through my effort.
Student Senate Vice President
Hello, my name is Mark, and I am in my third semester at SCC, studying Biological Science. I know how busy everybody is, so I appreciate your time for reading my paragraph.
Like many first-generation immigrants, I have experienced drawbacks, but this has also made me learn to advocate for myself. At this time, I am looking forward to sharing these skills and advocating for my fellow students.
I take things seriously when it comes to student issues, and I have a strong desire and the drive to find ways of helping students.
I am running for Vice-President because my goal is to increase participation, and communication within our college community, so that we are more connected and feel welcome when speaking out about issues that come up. Our student voice is important, and I would like to be involved in creating more opportunities for us to share and exchange our experiences.
Thank you for considering my candidacy for student government.
Clubs & Events Board Vice President
My name is NeKayla Irvin and I believe I would be a great candidate for Vice President of Clubs and Events board. I believe this because I truly love to plan and work with others. Being the pandemic I have, like so many others, been isolated from the outside world and I know that really gets to people so to have a chance to help mend that bridge would be amazing. I already have some experience as I joined the board for this position as well so I am starting to get adjusted to what I need to do as a valuable student leader. I really enjoy working with others as well and one of the many duties as Vice President is to work closely with the President and be able to have good communication skills with them and the rest of the board which is a skill I believe to possess. I want to be on the board so I can bring joy into students' lives, being focused on academics is important but so is enriching the social life of the school and I want to serve everyone well.

Student Senate Treasurer
Hi everyone!
My name is Andrea Anaya. I am a first year college student who is majoring in Political Science and am interested in pursuing a career as a Criminal Defense attorney. As a first generation college student coming from a low-income family, I recognize the value of money and how it can affect opportunities the people have in life. I am interested in being treasurer as I would like to administrate the student senate funds in a way that provides all students with opportunities that could support them throughout their time in college. Coming from a family that runs their own business, I have experience in running financial control and budgeting that I believe qualify me for this position. I want to be an advocate for all students at Sacramento City College and make sure everyone’s voice is heard through their vote.
Student Senate Secretary
I believe I would be a good candidate for this position as I learn the most from my and others' mistakes. Being involved in Student Senate for a whole year as a senator has allowed me to understand how to avoid mistakes and how to handle situations that arise from said mistakes. I have also answered many questions of my own as a senator, such as I understood now why it takes a week or two to approve certain actions due to how our own bylaws impact it. Student Senate has helped me make a difference in people's lives by either writing a small portion of a letter or voting to pass a solution that hinders SCC students from being the best. I value the positive change I am able to make on this campus and I would never do anything to jeopardize it.
Clubs & Events Board Secretary of Equity & Diversity
Hi I am Nancy currently running to be Sacramento CIty College Secretary of equity and Diversity for the spring semester. I am currently majoring in medical assisting and plan to graduate next year. I am running because I am getting close to graduating and I feel there needs to be more representation of leaders. If I were to be elected I would make sure that there is more fellowship for every career that a student is majoring in. I also feel there should be more cultural events in the clubs for every campus.

Student Senate Secretary of Outreach & Development
I'm seeking to be the Secretary of Outreach and Development because I believe its time that the school do more for students who need our support like students with disabilities, homeless students, and others. I believe I can bring a lot to this position.
Student Senate Secretary of Technology
I believe I am a good candidate for the position of Secretary of Technology because I am adept at problem solving, especially when it comes to technology like computers and websites. With my skills of problem solving, I can easily maintain how to constantly update the SCC website and how it can better assist students. I also have proficient organizational skills that can keep track of times and dates so that I can easily update the website to adjust to a schedule. Knowing how to use technology on both Microsoft and Apple devices, I am able to instruct others as to how to use technology to their own advantage. Not only do I good technology skills, but I also have leadership experience due to my family responsibilities and abilities as a good babysitter, so I know how to be civil and also take care of others in a timely manner. Thank you for considering me for this position.
Student Senators (Alphabetically by first name. Up to 20 Senators allowed)
Hello, my name is Alicia Ngo and I am a Pre-Nursing major. Not only do I dedicate myself to my studies, I avidly participate in student run clubs and serve as a CAEB Representative for one of them. I take part in volunteering events and intern at a nursing home. These extracurriculars have allowed me to develop numerous skills and also learn about the students here at Sacramento City College. I am grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of an environment with a diverse student culture. Because of this, I am inspired to be a part of the community and serve as a connection point between the student body and administration as a Senator.
Because i have the ability and I can trust on myself that i can be a useful for the students in their educational journey.
I am seeking office to participate in student life and become active in the student body. I am also seeking office to help me in my political career.
I am running for Student Senate because I want to represent the "non-traditional" students of SCC. I have been enrolled at SCC since 2016 and could not committ to full-time status and campus activities because, to put it simply, life has been unpredictable. I worked multiple jobs to help my mother at home and was not as motivated to complete my transfer degree. After reigniting my passion for school & learning, I questioned whether it would be possible to become the student I aspire to be with a not-so-perfect transcript & 5+ years of college under my belt. I have come to embrace my journey because it is my own, & it would be an honor to represent those who have faced a similar situation like mine to prove that everyone deserves to take up space within higher education & that it is completely okay to be proud of our unique & individual journeys through it, including the mistakes we have made along the way. Mistakes matter and make up who we are, but it is what we do with those mistakes that matter the most.
My name is Tehya Woodcock– I’m a Political Science student working towards transferring to UC Davis to obtain a bachelor’s in said field; it’s my second year both attending Sacramento City College and living here in Sacramento. My experiences have been limited due to the unusual circumstances of the past two years, but I can say with certainty that I’ve already fallen in love with the people, places, and opportunities the city has to offer. I am running for Senator at SCC because I want to make positive changes in our community, create lasting relationships with my fellow students and mentors, and participate in our school’s democracy. Some issues that I would like to focus on if elected are reforming the school’s website for better accessibility, creating programs to help students better understand how to obtain financial aid, and making progress towards bringing back our school’s clubs; I will promise to further our accessibility, transparency, diversity, and accountability.
