This course prepares future heavy equipment operators by focusing on grade construction (ensuring a specific level or slope for all building projects). It introduces students to the core staking equipment, necessary PPE, industry communication processes for interpreting grade, and relevant mathematical concepts. Students in the course may earn apprenticeship hours that can be applied post-high school graduation to the Local 49ers Union Apprenticeship Program and have the potential to earn articulated college credit from North Hennepin Community College.

This online course provides students with an introduction to the basic equipment used in the construction industry. Students learn about basic equipment operations and job responsibilities. This course prepares students to use concepts pertaining to safety, maintenance, mathematics, and communication that operating engineers may experience. Students in the course may earn apprenticeship hours that can be applied post-high school graduation to the Local 49ers Union Apprenticeship Program and have the potential to earn articulated college credit from North Hennepin Community College.

Course Progression Requirement: Nails 1 is a required prerequisite for Nails 2, 3 and Clinic.
This course introduces foundational knowledge and skills required to perform basic nail technology services. Instruction emphasizes manicuring, pedicuring, infection control, sanitation, safety, professional image, communication skills, chemistry, electricity, anatomy and physiology, and Minnesota State laws and rules.
This course focuses on safety, sanitation, infection control, and core nail care procedures and is designed to prepare students for continued progression in the nail technology pathway.

This course builds on the foundational skills learned in Nails 1 and allows students to expand their nail technology knowledge through hands-on application. Instruction emphasizes manicuring, artificial nail enhancements, infection control, sanitation, safety, professional image, communication skills, chemistry, electricity, anatomy and physiology, and Minnesota State laws and rules.
Students will practice appropriate use of professional nail products and tools while developing confidence, efficiency, and readiness for advanced coursework and clinical experiences.

This course continues the nail technology pathway by focusing on advanced artificial nail enhancement services and clinical application. Building on the skills developed in Nails 1 and Nails 2, students refine their technical ability, product knowledge, and service execution using professional enhancement systems.
Instruction emphasizes artificial nail enhancements, infection control, sanitation, safety, professional image, communication skills, chemistry, electricity, anatomy and physiology, and Minnesota State laws and rules. This course prepares students for successful transition into the nail technology clinic environment.

This course introduces students to supervised client services in a clinic setting. Students apply nail technology skills in real-world scenarios while focusing on client consultation, service setup, sanitation, time management, and professionalism.
Instruction emphasizes safe and effective client services, infection control, communication skills, professional conduct, and an introduction to business and career readiness concepts.

This course continues supervised client services with increased independence and accountability. Students refine service efficiency, consistency, and client experience while further developing professional and business skills.
Instruction emphasizes advanced clinical practice, client retention, time management, service readiness, and preparation for the written and practical components of the Nail Technician licensure examination.
Drivers Education Classroom Instruction (On-line Independent Study, This Course is not for Credit)

Length of Course: 6 months to complete
This online driver education course meets the requirements of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, providing students with the necessary knowledge and skills to become safe and responsible drivers. The course covers a wide range of topics, including: Traffic Laws, Vehicle Operation, Driving Risks and Hazards, Defensive Driving and Emergency Procedures. This course is designed to be self-paced, allowing students to learn at their own speed. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive an official certificate of completion that can be used to obtain a Minnesota driver's license. This course is not for credit and must be taken in addition to the courses needed for graduating from ISD 742.
Elementary Teacher Assistant

Two-hour block (6 Credits)
This program is designed as an opportunity for students to assist in an elementary classroom for a full year under the supervision of an elementary teacher. Students will gain experience and develop skills in working with children. This course is ideal for students who are interested in working with children as a career choice. Each student will be assigned to an elementary school for two hours a day, earning two credits for each trimester.

This elective program helps students to achieve the necessary requirements and skills to be eligible for university acceptance. Activities include a focus on organization, study skills, reading and writing to learn, collaboration, inquiry, and Guest speakers and virtual field trips to college and universities.
First Responder Intro

In this introductory course, students will explore the dynamic world of first response, gaining an overview of the key areas involved. Students will learn about the essential roles, core functions, and critical responsibilities within law enforcement, fire services, Emergency Medical Responders (EMR), and dispatch communications.
Law Enforcement and Public Safety I "ACC"

Length of Course: One trimester
This course will help introduce students to law enforcement and public safety careers and the criminal justice system. This will include the three major components: Policing, Courts, and Corrections. Student will be introduced to modern law enforcement patrol procedures, tactics, and the performance of law enforcement duties in a competent and professional manner. Emphasis is on the day-to-day duties, routine assignments and overall objectives of a law enforcement officer in a patrol environment
Law Enforcement and Public Safety II

This course will dive into the details of the criminal justice system: Policing, Courts, and Corrections. The course includes issues of history, our changing society, and advances in technology. This course will utilize many guest speakers from area public safety departments as well as hands-on applications of skills.
Microinternship

Fulfills 1 elective credit
Students will learn how to interact and perform tasks at a workplace through short term opportunities with community partners. Students will be paired with local industries or businesses for shadowing and short internship experiences. This is a great way to network with our area companies and to "try a career on for size!"

This program is available for students to boost their success and college and career readiness with a focus on improving their reading skills. An added bonus, time is built into the course as a study, allowing extra support during the class to continue to apply what is being taught to other classes the student is taking.
Teacher’s Aide

This program is available for students wishing to improve their skills in a specific subject area or learn more about a career as a classroom or special education teacher. Students will assist teachers and students through practical work experience. The work assigned will always be under the supervision of the host teacher and prior approval from that teacher and the principal must be given before you can register. Students may track hours for volunteering and get verification of those hours through the host teacher.
US ARMY Jr ROTC 1

Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) is a course that introduces high school students to leadership, citizenship, and lifelong values. Through a structured curriculum, cadets develop essential skills such as communication, teamwork, discipline, and problem-solving.
Work Experience/Employment Skills

Dependent on approved work site participation, students can earn up to 6 credits for their job performance.
This program is for students who are interested in developing employment skills. Topics studied center around workplace practices such as: getting, holding and terminating employment: job promotions, career planning, problem solving, team work, work safety, job shadowing, and discussions in a cluster group with other students of similar career interests. You will also seek employment in a part time job related to a career interest area. This is done through a business agreement with a local employer. Your job should be chosen to assist you to gain work experience, get skill training and help you learn about the occupation you are considering. Discussion and projects in class will draw from this experience. Class will be more meaningful if your job is in your potential future career choice.
