Evan joined the Apollo Girls Swim Team in the fall of 2018. Prior to Apollo, Evan was the Head Swim Coach at the Saint Cloud YMCA for nearly 5 years. While at the Y, Evan lead the YMCA to 4 YMCA Points Per Capita team titles (2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018). Evan has coached 10 USA Swimming Minnesota State Champions, numerous YMCA State Champions and YMCA Regional Champions, as well as National Level swimmers and nationally ranked YMCA swimmers. In the summer of 2016 the St. Cloud YMCA place 2nd at Age Group State and Senior State in the single A division as a team. The YMCA achieved Level II status in USA Swimming's Club Recognition Program under Evan.
Prior to coming to Saint Cloud, Evan was the Aquatics Director/Head Coach at the Marion Family YMCA in Marion, Ohio. In Marion, the girls team has compiled a record of 156-42, while the boys team has compiled a record of 118-75. The team also broke 161 team records January 2012 through March 2013. At League Championships, the girls improved from at 10th place finish in Evan's first year, to a 2nd place team finish in his 3rd and last year, and the boys from 12th to 7th. The team overall improved from 11th place to 6th place. The summer of 2012 Evan lead the Marion Family YMCA team into membership with USA Swimming. In the spring of 2013, the Marion Family YMCA achieved Level II status in USA Swimming’s Club Recognition Program.
Prior to moving to Marion in August of 2010, Evan was a 5th grade teacher in Waterloo, Iowa for 3 years. Evan also served as Assistant Boys & Girls Swim Coach at Waterloo West High School from 2004-2009. He was a volunteer assistant coach for the Cedar Falls High School girls team in 2003 that won a State Championship in Iowa. He has been involved in competitive swimming since he was in the 4th grade, swimming in high school at Northern University High School, and swimming one year of college at Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
Evan has his undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa, and a masters degree in Recreation & Sports Sciences from Ohio University. He is also a 5th grade teacher at Talahi Elementary School in St. Cloud. He lives in St. Cloud with his three sons Titan, Jett, and Colt, and his two dogs Winnie and Bailey.
