ECFE Parent & Child Together
Parent and Child Attend Together
Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is a family oriented 25 week program where moms, dads, caregivers and their young children, ages birth to 5, can have fun together while developing school readiness skills. This provides time for parents and children to interact in an age appropriate environment with other parents and children. If enrolled in an ECFE class, the parent will spend a portion of the class with their child as well as time in a parent only class.

A typical ECFE class includes:
Parent-Child Interaction: A time where parent and child together enjoy a classroom filled with developmentally appropriate learning activities.
Parent Education: These sessions provide relevant, effective education and support that encourages a healthy environment for the growth and development of families.
Children's Activity Time: During parent education time, children explore, gain independence, and practice social skills while under the supervision of a licensed early childhood teacher.
ECFE Advisory Council - Become a Member!
An Advisory Council has been established for the ECFE program. The council meets four times per year and is comprised of parents and interested community members. The role of the council is to contribute recommendations for program policies, goals, objectives and ideas. New members are always welcome. If you would like to join or would like more information, please contact ECFE at 320-968-8526.
Most ECFE classes begin with time for parents and children to spend together doing developmentally appropriate learning activities. These activities are designed by early childhood teachers to promote growth and development and to give parents ideas on what to do at home.
While parents are having discussion time, children spend time in the classroom with an early childhood teacher who offers a variety of activities that help develop social skills and school readiness skills. Children will participate in story time, songs, games and creative playtime.
Parents share stories and ask questions during their time with other parents and a licensed parent educator. Discussion topics are chosen by the group and often include child development, discipline, and the every day challenges of raising a child in today's world. Parents also spend a portion of their group time observing the children during their guided playtime. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn about your child and see firsthand the skills they are working on.
