Workshop objectives
Essential understandings
• Unit planning across the IB programmes is an interconnected, ongoing cycle.
• There are multiple entry points to unit planning; educators can begin designing unit planners from content, concept(s), context(s) or skills when starting unit planning.
• Unit planners are dynamic documents that evolve as educators grow and develop, ensuring that each part of the planning process flows seamlessly into the next.
• Peer-to-peer engagement in this workshop content encourages risk taking, experimentation and reflection that can lead to shared new understandings.
The workshop is broken down into the following four inquiries
• Inquiry 1: How might content enhance your unit planning process?
• Inquiry 2: How might contextual learning and teaching enhance your unit planning process?
• Inquiry 3: How might teaching for conceptual understanding as an outcome enhance your unit planning process?
• Inquiry 4: How might skills associated with approaches to learning enhance your unit planning process?
