Book Club
Librarians, Mrs. Shannon Taylor and Mrs. Ann Jennings are overseeing the FCHS Book Club. The purpose of the book club is to promote reading for pleasure, introduce students to different genres of books, enhance critical thinking skills, and promote literacy through fun shared readings, discussions, and activities. Each year we select approximately 10 books for our students to read as a group, club members are not expected to read all the books but we encourage them to read as many a possible. The books are provided to students to borrow with the option to buy. All money raised through book sales goes back into the club to help buy more books and fund club activities. Our Book Club Board members help us plan activities like:
Homecoming Float Participation
Read Across America Week Activities
Our Annual Read-a-thon raising money for our club as well as other book related charities.
Participation in a Hands on Fluvanna service project, helping one of our school district's lower schools library.
A Spring Field Trip to places like:
The Library of Congress
The American Shakespeare Center in Stanton
The University of Virginia's Small Collection Library
The FCHS Book Club is a great place for book readers to connect with others who love books! Stop by the library to get a permission slip to be added to the club.
