About Me & Contact Info

My name is Melissa Luhmann, and I am the 7th grade English teacher here at Fairmont Jr./Sr. High School.  I have lived in or near Fairmont for all of my life.  I graduated from Fairmont High School in 2006 and earned my Bachelor's in Secondary Education English from GCU in 2015.  I received my Master's degree (English) in 2021.  I am currently enrolled in a program toward an additional Master's in Secondary Reading/Literacy.  My husband and I have been married since 2012 and live in Fairmont with our dog and cats.  In my free time, I love reading, writing, crafting, crocheting, watching Netflix, playing video games, board games, tie-dying, and spending time with my family and friends.

Please feel free to contact me by email anytime, or by phone during regular school hours:

The daily/weekly lessons, assignments, and agenda will be posted on the Weekly Calendar in our Schoology class each week.  It is the student's responsibility contact me to seek out any lessons or assignments missed due to absences.  Extra copies of paper worksheets will be kept on a table in the front of the room.  Other assignments will be found in the Savvas website or our online Schoology Classroom.

If students are in music courses and have scheduled lessons during our English class time, it is the student's responsibility to seek permission from me at least one day in advance to miss English class and attend the lesson.  Any class work that will be missed during that lesson must be completed before the next time our class meets.  Students must check the class calendar before requesting to miss class for a lesson.  Permission will usually be granted if a student follows these guidelines.  ***Permission will not be granted to miss class for lessons on important days such as testing days, or if the student's recent achievement or attendance indicate that the student should not miss class.***

I update the Skyward gradebook at least once per week.  If you see a (*) in the gradebook, the score has not yet been entered.

If you need extra assistance, there are audio and interactive versions of the Savvas textbooks on the Savvas Realize website.

In our online Schoology Classroom, I post each skills lesson Nearpod slideshow so students have the ability to return to any lesson as needed. There will also be links to study resources for each Selection Test and Unit Test (including videos, Gimkit games, Quizlet flashcards, etc.).
