History of The Forest View Garden
The space that you are now in is our garden. This place used to be a dull, boring, and empty patch of land which was saved for the few dried-up bushes within it. This was in Forest View’s early years. There were two Kindergarten teachers Ms. Henderson and Ms. Davis, who wanted some change, and whose classes were located near that dull patch of land.
They would walk by it, thinking: " We must use this space! ” They thought it could be used as a place to learn and relax. Once the school allowed them to start the project, Ms. Henderson realized that she couldn't do it herself, so she reached out to Jessi Bloom, one of her student's parents who worked for NW Bloom EcoLogical Landscapes. She donated everything for the garden. Kindergarten students also helped build it.
In 2016, Ms. Pilon and other teachers worked on the garden and dedicated it to a fellow Forest View Kindergarten teacher, Mr. Heaton who had sadly passed away.
During the days of the pandemic, no one tended to the garden. Plants withered, benches cracked, pieces of decorative art were broken and once again the garden became dull. After a grant from the Everett Public School Foundation, the 2021-2022 HC classes WORKED to restore the garden to make it a beautiful place once again.
This garden is a small piece of land At Forest View. Yet, though it is small, it holds a lot of history. It's an important part of Forest View Elementary School. Nothing, no matter how small, is ever unimportant.
