COVID

All schools in the Osseo Area Schools have site-specific COVID-19 plans. The plans have been adjusted as we prepare to bring all students back for in-person learning. Every school is different based upon the number of students, the physical building, and so on.

The following is not an all-inclusive list, but rather a few key points specific to Park Brook Elementary.

Updated: August 23, 2021

Health Check

  • All staff and students (parents with their children) should complete the daily health check at the bottom of this page.

  • If any individual, staff or student, has any symptoms, they should not enter the building and call the school for guidance. The District COVID Team will assist.

Arrival

  • Students will enter the building through assigned doors, to reduce hall congestion.

  • Students will line up in front of the school in various locations, and will be socially distanced.

Birthday Treats

Handing out birthday treats in a classroom is not safe as we are trying to slow the spread of COVID-19. While kind and thoughtful, at this time treats/food of any kind cannot be shared in the classroom.

Please remind your children that they should not be sharing or accepting food from others.

Bus

  • Students are required to wear a face mask covering their nose and mouth while on the bus.

  • To increase air circulation, the vent(s) in the roof and some windows will be open at all times on the bus. Students should dress appropriately for the weather.

Classrooms

  • Desks and tables will be arranged in a manner to place as much space between students as possible.

  • Students and teachers are required to wear face masks in the classroom and throughout the building.

  • Minnesota Department of Health and Minnesota Department of Education guidelines will be followed in this location, as well as all others.

  • Air circulation systems run earlier and later in the day than usual to bring in additional fresh air. In addition, the system has been adjusted to increase fresh air in the building during the day.

Dismissal

  • Students must wear a face mask if they are riding a school bus or any commercial vehicle for transportation.

  • Students will exit out of various doors to reduce congestion in the hallways.

Lunch

  • Second grade usually enjoys recess prior to lunch, however, this year they will eat first so that they can have the entire cafeteria for their grade.

  • 1st and 3rd grades will rotate with 4th and 5th grades eating in their classrooms. Each week it will be either 1st and 3rd, or 4th and 5th eating in classrooms. This will allow students to eat with more space between students.

  • Students, as always, are not permitted to share food.

  • All tables will be cleaned and sanitized between lunch periods.

  • In order to increase the space between individuals, until further notice, visitors will not be permitted to eat in the cafeteria.

Music/Physical Education Classes

  • Masks are required in both the cafeteria and gym. If students go outside for physical education class they are permitted to remove their mask.

Recess

  • Students are allowed to remove their face mask, if they choose, during recess.

  • Outside is safer than being inside, however, we will encourage students to keep social distance.

Staff

  • All staff members are required to wear a face mask covering their nose and mouth.

Before/After School & Weekend Events

  • After school activities will be outside as often as possible.

  • Field trips will follow guidelines with students wearing masks on the school bus, and keeping distance during outdoor events.

  • If activities are held inside, students and staff will be required to wear a face mask.

  • Social distancing will be practiced to the extent possible.
