WELCOME!

Welcome to the new Parkview STEM specialist page! I am Ms. Haugh, and I will be working with your student to advance their passion, understanding, and appreciation for the four main disciplines of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math.)

Whether students are designing an experiment to test a hypothesis they wrote based on a question about the natural world around them, creating a website to help track student usage of specific library books, or using their prior knowledge about geometry and forces to build and test a prototype of a bridge, science, technology, engineering, and math continuously intersect nearly all aspects of our every day lives. During their time in the STEM Lab, students will engage in meaningful and collaborative hands-on projects with their peers, sharing their discoveries and learning process along the way. I invite you to follow along with us throughout the year by clicking appropriate links on the STEM Lab webpage.

WHY STEM?

Science, technology, engineering, and math not only intersect with each other, but are crucial parts of the liberal arts as well! Artists uses geometry and measurement to create murals, writers and academic researchers analyze the publications of other professionals to advance the common good, and biomedical engineers work with doctors and educators to develop new technologies for organ transplant procedures! The connections are endless... By empowering students with meaningful STEM education, students will be better equipped to think critically and act wisely throughout all aspects of their education.
