Tanner Walters Receives 2020 Minnesota Science Teachers Association Award

Tanner is a K-5 STEM teacher at Oak Ridge Elementary. In an effort to help ensure that students at his school have the tools to learn science, Tanner developed and manages a STEM to GO library system where students can check out science-focused tools and activities to use from home. He also incorporates outdoor learning to apply concepts in class to the real world. Link

At Oak Ridge Elementary, we believe ALL students should have access to STEM-focused learning tools! ALL Oak Ridge students can check out a STEM kit to take home and use with their family. Each kit contains a book and an activity. Some kits require additional supplies.

Student STEM Leaders!

In 2019, we started STEM Leaders at Oak Ridge. This allowed upper grades to be role models and help out other students in STEM. They help answer questions, take students on a break, and many other leadership jobs. Since then, it's been win, win for all students!
