Grading

Grading Policy

Grades are based primarily on assignments, quizzes and chapter tests. Most assignments are worth 5 points, most quizzes are worth 15 to 20 points, and all chapter tests are worth 100 points.

For 8th grade Algebra, tests and quizzes are worth 85% of the grade and homework comprises 15% of the grade. Starting in 9th grade math, both Eastview and Apple Valley High School math departments bump up the test percentage to as high as 95%.

Late assignments: If an assignment is turned in late, a student receives either a 1 or 2 (out of 5), depending on the quality of the work. When an assignment is turned in on time, students may receive a 3, 4 or 5. The score depends on the number correct as well as the quality of the work. In most cases, all work must be shown. Late work is always due prior to the chapter test unless a student has been absent.

Assignments are like practices, the quizzes are the scrimmage, and the chapter test is the big game. They matter! Students need to keep up with assignments and ask questions throughout the chapter so that they are ready for the big game.

Make sure you are checking Schoology Regularly!!!

As a rule, students are not allowed to retake tests. If there are special circumstances for a particular test, please contact us.
