About Mrs. Davis
The 2023-24 school year is year 13 for Mrs. Davis as a teacher and her 6th year as McAdams Choral Director. She has a passion for teaching and making music! Mrs. Davis has been singing and playing instruments since she was in elementary school, so music is a lifelong love of hers. In her free time, Mrs. Davis enjoys traveling, spending time with her husband, and learning new things.
Curriculum Overview
The goal of participation in choir is to build a foundation of musical knowledge and skills and provide personal fulfillment that will result in a lifelong appreciation and enjoyment of choral singing.
Choir curriculum is comprised of the following:
Vocal techniques-blend, range, tone quality, vowel placement, diction, breath support, posture
Sight-reading Skills-practice of reading notation and rhythms; using solfege/hand signs
Unison, 2-part, 3-part singing-exposure to a wide range of music encompassing many different genres
Music theory– ability to interpret symbols and terms in music
Music history-study of the link between music, world cultures, and current events
Performance Requirements
Participation in concerts is mandatory for all choir members, unless notified differently by the choir director. Performances are a part of our Texas music TEKS and therefore a part of our choral curriculum. Students should arrive in choir uniform, ready to sing. All dates will be added to the school calendar, district Fine Arts calendar, CHARMS calendar and this website in August. Should any additional performances be scheduled, you will receive several weeks’ notice prior to the performance. An email will be sent via Skyward and updated on all calendars if any dates are changed or added--so please keep an eye out for the Choir Newsletter and ask your child about concert dates on a routine basis.
