We are so excited to welcome our new Raptors for the 2025-2026 school year. On this site, you can gain information on the Roberta Road Middle School experience. Thank you for visiting, and for learning more about becoming a Roberta Road Raptor!

The 6th Grade Experience at Roberta Road Middle
Curriculum
All students will have the following classes each day:
Math
Science
Language Arts (ELA)
Social Studies

All students will take a ENCORE class each day.
Health & P.E. will count as one of their encore classes.

Students have choices when registering for Encore classes.
They can either register for one of the yearlong courses, Band or Chorus
or
Select two semester long encore classes from the following:
Art - Chorus - Exploring Technology I - Exploring Childcare - Computer Discoveries I - Intro to Office Productivity
CORE Classes
Students have 4 CORE classes scheduled each day. Core classes are: Math, Science, English/Language Arts (ELA), and Social Studies.
Encore Classes
Students will have encore each day.
All students are required to take Health & P.E.
Students will choose one yearlong course or choose two semester-long encore options.

Encore Registration Dates & Registration Form Preview
During the weeks of March 24th - April 4th Roberta Road Middle School counselors will visit your child's school to assist with encore registration.
Pitts Elementary on 3/28/25
Carl A. Furr Elementary 4/3/25
Your student will receive a registration document prior to thier visit. Please review it with them, complete the form, and return to their elementary school. RRMS Staff will use this document to assist students in registering.

Understanding Your Schedule
All 6th grade students will receive their schedule in August at Open House.
All students have 5 class periods each day. Four core classes and one encore classes.
Semester Long Class- a student will attend that class from either August- January or January-May
Year Long Class- a student will be in that class for the entire year from August-May.
Rising Raptor Night
Parents will have a chance to learn more about Roberta Road Middle School, meet teachers, ask questions and tour the school!
Understanding Language Immersion at Roberta Road Middle
Dual Language Immersion
Roberta Road Middle is home to the district's Spanish & Mandarin language immersion middle school programs.
Students enrolled in the dual language immersion program will take:
1 Cultural Class in their designated language
1 Content/Core class in either Spanish or Mandarin
The dual language immersion cultural class will count as one of their encore classes.
In the dual language immersion program we strive to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
Students in the DLI Program will receive a different Encore Registration form, than their traditional peers.

Middle School Transition Q&A
Arrival
Students may enter the building beginning at 8:40am. The homeroom bell rings at exactly 9:00am.
Breakfast
All students have the opportunity to eat breakfast each day. Breakfast is grab and go. If students would like breakfast they will enter the cafeteria to get their breakfast and take it to their homeroom class to eat.
Lockers
Roberta Road Middle School does not have lockers. Students will carry their belongings in their backpack to and from class. Students will have access to a P.E locker to put there belongings during gym.
Chromebooks
Students will be assigned a Chromebook at the beginning of the school year.
Students will bring their charged chromebook and charger to school each day.
Students will carry their assigned chromebook to all of their classes.
Students are responsible for taking good care of their assigned Chromebook, and following the Acceptable Use policy.
Teams
To make things a little easier and more familiar, students are separated into teams. All the students on one team have the same teachers for their 4 Core subjects, and these teachers' classrooms are located in one section of the hallway.
Students will have one of the team teachers for homeroom. Teams sit together during lunch, and other special events like assemblies and pep rallies.
Homework
Homework varies for each class. Each teacher can assign homework each night.
Teachers plan for students to complete their assignments during the time provided in class each day.
Students who do not finish an assignment during the class time provided are expected to take it home and complete it for homework.
Schedule
Students will have 4 Core classes and 1 Encore classes each day.
When it is time for lunch students will eat as a class with one of their core teachers.
When it is time for Encore, the whole grade level will travel to the Encore hallway.
Transition Time
Students wait for their teachers to dismiss the class and will transition to their core classes by lining up outside the door of their next class.

Lunch
Each grade level has a separate lunch time. You will travel to the cafeteria with your team. Each team is assigned a designated seating area in the cafeteria.
There are 3 lunch lines. One features a homestyle meal, and the other two offers fast food and grab and go type meals. Fruits, veggies, and drinks are available in all lines.

Cell Phones
Student cell phones must be turned off or be on silent and put away once you enter the school and can't be taken out until dismissal.
If there is a reason you need to contact you parent during the day, your teacher will give you a pass to use the phone in the front office. Your parents can also contact you by calling the main number.
Dismissal
At 3:50 pm, car riders and walkers are dismissed by overhead announcement.
Students who ride the bus will remain with their classes for a few moments until the second announcement is made to dismiss bus riders.
Teachers will walk their class out to the bus lot.
