Each student will be assigned a chromebook and charger for the year. Students should come to school each day with their charged chromebook.

This year all CCS teachers will be utilizing the Canvas platform. Click on the Canvas icon to login. The login and password are the same as those used to log into the school issued chromebook.

This video shows you how to access your student PowerSchool and Canvas accounts. We recommend frequently checking your student's progress in their classes.
The proposed School Improvement Plan for the 2022-2023 School Year is as follows:
Instructional Goal: Reading Focus
By June 2023, HRMS will increase students’ overall reading proficiency, as measured by the North Carolina End of Grade Reading Test, from 80% proficient to 82% proficient.
Action Steps:
• Data Analysis & MTSS systems (A-4.01, C-2.01)
o CFA data review at PLCs- at least 2 per unit (teacher response to instruction - on ELA PLC agendas)
o Benchmark SWOT with Student Goal setting and reflection at benchmarks (unit assess)
o Interdisciplinary team meetings to share information on students with other content area teachers (4-5 times per year)
o Vertical ELA meeting in 1st Quarter to share and plan school wide ELA goals by grade (teacher led)
• Building a Community of Readers- “Readers BELONG Here”
o Team visual with books “we’ve read this year” (each ELA teacher)
o Student Book Presentations (quarterly)
o Devoted Reading Day in Advisory Time (All teachers read too- model the value of reading)
o Enhance ELA book club and small groups (challenge, moving through books)
• Classroom Walkthroughs (B-3.03, C-2.01)

Behavioral Consistency Goal:
By June 2023 80% of HRMS teachers will agree that administration consistently enforces rules for student conduct, and 80% of HRMS teachers will agree that teachers consistently enforces rules for conduct as measured by the 2023 Cabarrus County Teacher Survey.
· Currently 57.69% of teachers agree/strongly agree that administration consistently enforces rules for conduct according to the 2021 Teacher Working Condition Survey
· Currently 74.35% of teachers agree/strongly agree that teachers consistently enforces rules for conduct according to the 2022 Teacher Working Condition Survey
Action Steps:
• Administrators will provide and discuss with all staff with the Behavior Management Matrix.
• Administrators will monitor infractions within Educators Handbook and develop a process to provide consistent consequences for disciplinary infractions and repeat offenders.
• Administration will regularly communicate with teachers regarding discipline.
• Behavior Team will conduct quarterly surveys with staff regarding student behavior and perceived consistency of consequences.
• Leverage the MTSS framework to identify students with an excessive number of disciplinary referrals in need of additional behavior supports and interventions.
• HRMS will adopt the behavior slips process to record and document minors. Behavior slips will be consequencedaccording to the Behavior Slip matrix.
Social Emotional Goal:
By June 2023, Harris Road will implement P2 Positivity Project lessons on a weekly basis to address social and emotional learning.
Action Steps:
• HRMS P2 representatives will attend the district-level P2 Project training sessions.
• The Advisory Committee will develop a plan to incorporate at least one P2 lesson each week which will be taught during Advisory time.
• The Advisory Committee will communicate with parents the P2 weekly lesson focus via the HRMS webpage and email correspondence.
Student Culture Goal:
By June 2023 HRMS will provide at least 2 school-wide incentives, 1 grade level incentive, and 1 team incentive based opportunity in order to encourage and increase the recognition of positive student behavior.
Action Steps:
• Certified staff will engage an independent book study of “Culturize” by Jimmy Casas.
• Incentive Planning Committee will create a calendar with clear deadlines and expectations for students to be able to attend incentive opportunities.
• Positive Office Referrals will be provided in the main office.
• Quarterly Hangout Flyers will be posted with clear requirements and expectations.
• Bring back the Outstanding Patriot Award.
• Continue the Student of the Month program.
• Parent communication through the HRMS webpage and parent emails.
