Donations of tissues, paper towels, hand sanitizer and Lysol wipes will also be needed.
Students may enter the building beginning at 8:40 a.m. The bell rings for them to be in homeroom at 9:00 a.m.
Students no longer use lockers at Harris Road. Students will carry their belongings in their backpacks to and from class.
Students will be assigned a Chromebook at the start of the school year. Students should bring their charged Chromebook and charger to school each day.
Students are responsible for taking care of their Chromebook and follow the Acceptable Use policy.
Students will be placed onto one of the three 6th Grade Teams. Students on the same team will have the same teachers for their 4 core subjects: Math, ELA, Social Studies and Science.
All teams are balanced and serve EC, 504 and AIG students.
Homework varies for each class. 6th grade students will be required to read 20 minutes each night for ELA and will typically have a math assignment. Students who do not finish an assignment during class time are expected to complete it for homework.
Students will have 4 Core Classes and 2 Encore classes each day. When it is time for Encore, the whole grade level will travel to the Encore hallway.
Students wait for their teachers to dismiss the class and will transition to their core classes by lining up outside the door of their next class.
Students have 4 minutes between classes.
Grab-and-go breakfast is available for all students in the cafeteria each morning.
Each grade level has a separate lunch time. You will travel to the cafeteria with your team. Each team is assigned a designated seating area in the cafeteria.
There are 2 lunch lines. One features a homestyle meal and the other offers fast food and grab-and-go type meals. Fruits, veggies and drinks are available in all lines.
These are some basics of dress code:
Skirts and shorts must be mid-thigh in length.
Shirts must cover the midriff, no plunging neck lines, and straps must be 2 inches or greater.
Pants must be fitted at the waist.
Clothing cannot be see-through or expose undergarments.
No pants with holes or tears above fingertips.
Mobile phone usage is not permitted.
Headphones and earbuds are not allowed in the hallways. No cordless earbuds are permitted.
More detailed information will be available in the student handbook provided at the start of the school year.
Student cell phone must be turned off and put away in backpacks upon entering the school. If there is a reason that a student needs to contact a parent during the day, they can ask the teacher for permission to call.
Dismissal starts at 4 p.m. Car riders are dismissed first. Students who ride the bus will remain in their classes for a few moments until the second announcement is made.
Teachers will walk their class out to the bus lot.
