Hello!!!

I am so excited to get this year started and connect with your children. Our class is a family and mistakes are proof you are trying are class Mottos. I believe that with this approach students can show up as their authentic selves and that is when true learning takes place. Having previously taught 4th grade in a different state, I am excited to dig into this learning journey and watch our students blossom in self-discovery and critical thinking.

This year, students will be encouraged to problem solve and critically think about information and how it relates to their positions in the world. It is very important that students do not compartmentalize learning and truly approach it holistically. Please ask your child what they are learning and what challenges they may be facing in school daily. Honest dialogue invites critical conversations and will help strengthen the value of learning and growth as a messy and unpredictable voyage.

Students will be working collaboratively and will learn how to become true supporters and leaders. In the coming weeks, students will be introduced to classroom jobs in which they will apply and be hired to keep our classroom community thriving. I will encourage students to apply for positions that align to their interests and skillsets, as the year progresses, students will be encouraged to try something new to expand their skills. I am excited for our adventure.
