I am a STEM teacher at R. Brown McAllister STEM Elementary in Concord, North Carolina. I have a Masters of Science in Biology, am GLEE (Gifted Local Endorsement for Educators) certified in Cabarrus County, and am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher. In the STEM Lab, I teach kindergarten through 5th grade students how to use collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity to solve problems using the engineering design process. I attended Cabarrus County Schools as a child and love that I have the opportunity to support students in this same community. I encourage students after school by coaching my school's North Carolina Science Olympiad team and VEX Robotics team. Outside of school, I love to travel and have a life goal of visiting every continent and all 50 states. Community is an important part of my life and I serve my community as a member of the Lions Club, a worldwide community service organization. As a STEM teacher, I routinely incorporate local and global issues into my classes to challenge students to solve real world problems. I hope to connect my students with cultures and communities different from their own and foster a lifelong love of learning.
