Students may enter the building beginning at 8:40am. The homeroom bell rings at exactly 9:00am.

Currently our students do not use lockers. Students travel between classes with their materials in their backpacks.

Students will be assigned a Chromebook at the beginning of the school year. They will be responsible for making sure to charge it each night. Students are responsible for taking good care of their assigned Chromebook, and following the Acceptable Use policy.

There will likely be over 300 students in 6th grade next year! 

To make things a little easier and more familiar, students are separated into teams. All the students on one team have the same teachers for their 4 Core subjects, and these teachers' classrooms are located in one section of the hallway. 

Students will have one of the team teachers for Homeroom. Teams sit together during lunch, and other special events like assemblies and pep rallies. 

During Encore, students will have classes with students from other teams.

Students should expect to have a Math assignment, and 30 minutes of reading  for ELA most nights. 

Teachers plan for students to complete their other assignments during the time provided in class each day. Students who do not finish an assignment during the class time provided are expected to take it home and complete it for homework.

Students will have 4 Core classes and 2 Encore classes each day. Core classes are a little over an hour long, and Encore classes are about 45 minutes long. 

When it is time for lunch students go to the cafeteria for lunch with one of their Core classes. 

When it is time for Encore, the whole grade level will travel to the Encore hallway.

Students have 3 minutes of transition time to move between Core classes, and 5 minutes to walk to and from the Encore hallway.

 This allows students time to move to the next class, use the bathroom, or get a drink of water.

If students would like to eat school breakfast, they will need to report to the cafeteria each morning prior to reporting to their class.

Each grade level has a separate lunch time. You will travel to the cafeteria with your team. Each team is assigned a designated seating area in the cafeteria.

These are some of the basics of dress code at CCG:

• Shorts and skirts may be no shorter than 3" above the knee 

• Straps on sleeveless tops must be at least 2" wide. 

• Undergarments and midriffs must remain covered at all times. 

• Hats, sunglasses, and bandannas are not permitted. 

• Students wearing leggings must have a shirt that is long enough to cover to the top of the inseam, in back and front. 

• Students wearing jeans or pants with holes cannot have exposed skin above the knee. Wearing shorts, leggings, or opaque tights underneath to cover is allowed. 

• No pajamas

More detailed info will be available in the student handbook provided at the beginning of the year.

Student cell phones and personal technology devices must be turned off and stored in the students book bag. 

If there is a reason a student needs to contact their parent during the day, a teacher will give a pass to use the phone in the front office. Parents can also contact students by calling the main number.

At 4 pm, car riders are dismissed by overhead announcement. 

Students who ride the bus will remain with their classes for a few moments until the buses finish arriving. A second announcement will dismiss bus riders.
