6th Grade Orchestra:
August/September--
Music review, become stronger note readers, review posture, have fun!
October/November/December--
Begin preparing for our first concert in December, begin learning different parts for each instrument, learn to play in small and large groups, learn to follow a conductor, G string notes, play in 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 time signatures, learn how to play in the Keys of D and G Major
January/February/March--
Learn how to tune your instrument, Learn natural notes, learn how to play in the key of C, learn C or E string notes (depending on instrument), begin preparing music for the final concert
April/May--
Present a final concert of fun pop music on April 24, Learn solo and ensemble music, present your solo and/or ensemble piece at Solo & Ensemble Music Festival and at the WMS Orchestra Recital
7th Grade Orchestra:
August/September/October--
Review C, G, D; Learn A, F, Bb Major keys; Learn d and g minor scales; Learn natural, harmonic, and melodic minor scales; Learn several series of new rhythms: dotted quarter notes, sixteenth notes, triplets; Learn new time signatures Cut-Time and 6/8 time; Work on All-County music, audition for All-County Orchestra in September, Learn music for Veterans Day program
November/December--
Present a concert for Veterans Day on November 11th; Prepare for a December concert; sight-read music for CPA
January/February/March--
Learn music for Concert Performance Assessment, sign up for Solo and Ensemble, present 2-3 pieces at CPA for a panel of three judges; Participate in the Universal STARS Sound Design performance workshop on March 11-14, begin learning new music for Spring concert
April/May--
Present a Spring concert of fun music on April 23, Learn solo and ensemble music, present your solo and/or ensemble piece at Solo & Ensemble Music Festival and at the WMS Orchestra Recital
8th Grade Orchestra:
August/September/October--
Begin a series of Michael Allen's Daily Warm-up Techniques; Learn higher positions, learn how to shift to higher positions; Work on All-County music, audition for All-County Orchestra in September, Learn music for Veterans Day program
November/December--
Present a concert for Veterans Day on November 11th; Prepare for a December concert; sight-read music for CPA
January/February/March--
Learn music for Concert Performance Assessment, go on Elementary Recruiting Tour, sign up for Solo and Ensemble, present 2-3 pieces at CPA for a panel of three judges; Participate in the Universal STARS Sound Design performance workshop on March 11-14, begin learning new music for Spring concert

Choose music and present a final concert of pop music on April 23, Learn solo and ensemble music, present your solo and/or ensemble piece at Solo & Ensemble Music Festival and at the WMS Orchestra Recital on May 14
