About your librarian

My name is Meg Black, and I am so happy to be a part of the Powdersville Elementary staff! I have been a fan of books for as long as I can remember.  I grew up reading books like The Baby-Sitters Club series and anything by Judy Blume.  Over the years, my love of reading only grew, and I found myself wanting to share that love with others.  I am looking forward to many wonderful experiences with all of you.  Happy reading!!!

Got book recommendations?

Students, parents, and teachers are welcome to enter their request on the Padlet below.  If possible, I will add it to our collection.

Library Expectations and Agreement

It is the policy of the library to allow students to check out 2 books at a time to enjoy in their classrooms and homes.  To maintain the collection, it is very important for all books to be returned to the library in a reasonable amount of time.  Students are allowed to keep books for two weeks at a time. After a two week period, a notice will be sent to parents. If the book is not returned after the notice, the student will be responsible for the cost of replacing the book.  If the book is paid for and located within a reasonable amount of time, students can still return the book and the cost will be refunded.

Parents, please discuss with your child the responsibility that goes along with borrowing books from the library.  I will also be discussing this responsibility on their first visit to the library, students who check books out of the library are responsible for returning the book in good condition.  If books are damaged while in the student’s possession, fines will be assessed accordingly. If the book is damaged beyond repair, the assessed fine will equal the cost of replacing the book or purchasing a similar title if the book is no longer available.  A parent or guardian must sign a form sent home the first week of school stating that your child understands and will adhere to our media center expectations. Students will not be permitted to check books out of the library until this form is signed and returned. Thank you for your cooperation in helping to take care of the materials in our library.
