Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year!
My name is Dr. Amanda Smoak and I teach 7th grade math. I am so excited and honored to be your child’s seventh grade math teacher. This is my thirteenth year at Wren Middle School and I am so excited to be here again this year. I have completed twenty-four years of teaching, all in the state of South Carolina, with eighteen of those years at the middle school level.
I am originally from Anderson, South Carolina. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from North Greenville University and my Master’s Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from the University of South Carolina. I graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction in August of 2017.
Even though I have earned two degrees from USC, my husband and I are both avid Clemson fans. I am married to Benjamin Smoak and we have two precious children. Our son, Andrew, is 17 years old and is in 12th grade this year. Our daughter, Kaylee, is 14 years old and is in 9th grade.
I am very excited about getting to know you and your child. I am looking forward to a happy and productive school year. I am very passionate about mathematics, but I am even more passionate about student learning. My goal is to prepare students for success in 8th grade, high school mathematics, and ultimately beyond high school.
I intend to make learning about math a positive experience for your child and I ask that you help me by supporting your child at home. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. I believe communication between parents and teachers is the key to a successful year. I am looking forward to a fantastic year!
Sincerely,
Dr. Amanda Smoak
