Course Description
The three main components of musical theatre are singing, acting, and dancing. This course serves as a study of each of these components. Students will be expected to perform individually as well as in groups and must demonstrate a willingness to take direction, take risks, and step out of their comfort zone. The ability to sing on pitch, a strong sense of rhythm, a high level of physical endurance, and daily participation in the rehearsal process is paramount. Students will perform solos, duets, and ensemble pieces; analyze, memorize and perform scenes; build a repertoire of dance movements from a variety of styles, and apply movements toward the creation of an original piece of choreography. Students are required to participate in at least one public performance. Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Acting I.
