The EASA Applied Anthropology Network (AAN) is excited to announce the first rendition of our Mentorship Program!
In 2024, we are launching the very first edition of our mentoring program with the aim to support (aspiring) anthropologists in exploring careers outside of academia. While we encourage applications from various backgrounds, the program focuses on the assets of anthropological thinking, training and frameworks. Both mentors and mentees should have an understanding of anthropology and an interest of how the discipline can benefit industries and non-academic workplaces. This is a fully remote program open globally.
Examples of profiles this program is dedicated to include, but are not limited to:
Anthropology students, who want to explore potential careers
B.A. and M.A graduates who are job searching
Anthropologists currently employed in academia looking for transition to industry, private or public sector (including PhD candidates)
Anthropologists looking to transition from one industry to another
Anthropologists looking for different kind of transition or advice, eg. job market in a different location, employee to consultant transition.
Anthropologists looking for advice within the discipline they are already employed in.
Each mentee will be paired with one mentor. Meet our mentors here: Mentors
One-on-one mentoring sessions will be held between February 1st and April 30th 2024 on a weekly (30-minutes) or biweekly basis (60-minutes).

Unfortunately due to the number of applications, we will not be able to provide individual feedback. If you do not hear back until January 31st 2024, please consider your application as unsuccessful.
Here are some tipps to make your application stand out:
While describing your motivation, avoid common, non-specific statements, eg. I am a recent graduate in anthropology looking for career opportunities in the UX. Describe your standing and profile as unique as possible.
Be honest and use plain language while decribing your motivation and goals
Provide minimum one external link to support your application.
Mentees will be selected based on how much they can benefit from the program. In the open-ended questions, please be specific how this program can help you reaching your goals.
Unfortunately, as we expect many applications, we will not be able to provide individual feedback. If you do not hear from us until January 31st 2024, please consider your application as unsuccessful.
The Applied Anthropology Network (AAN) is a platform within the European Association for Social Anthropologists (EASA) for anthropologists and other practitioners interested in the practical application of anthropology and ethnography.
