Janine is a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist who works at Matilda Marks-Kennedy one day per week and works with children who may benefit from a space away from class to support their mental health learning and she strives to build a strong rapport with each child she sees. Janine works with children alongside their school learning in celebrating individuality and diversity, building resilience, combating anxiety and changing family dynamics such as divorce and bereavement and providing strategies to combat the challenges that may come up for them. The best outcome would be the child to have both a fun and playful experience and also access emotional support and build up resilience.
Janine is a BACP accredited Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist and works both in primary schools and in private practice. Janine previously spent 6 years within CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) and has been working in Primary Schools as a School Therapist/ Counsellor for over 10 years. There are also termly parent consultations which serve to feedback on the progress of the therapy and to further explore how positive changes can be transferred into home and school life and to work alongside the child, teachers and parents.
Janine uses a number of modalities to help the child with their communication and build trust within the sessions, using verbal, art, play and drama therapy techniques to provide the best support for the child in exploring their emotional world. Janine is committed to providing the best environment to promote self-exploration and awareness by offering strategies and boosting self-confidence and understanding through emotional learning.
