Background
During the first semester of Algebra 2, we studied lines and parabolas. In our study of these two types of functions, we learned how to determine the equation of a line and how to analyze the equation of a parabola. Once we were comfortable with this information, we applied it to the construction of skate parks. Working in teams of three, students were asked to research both the positives and negatives to community skate parks, including interviews with community stakeholders. Finally, teams worked together to design a prototype of a skate parking using the online graphing tool Desmos. Below, you will find a link to each team's website that includes their final research, as well as drafts of their designs and their final skate park design.
