The highly anticipated Fun Week 2025 officially started with a bang on February 17, 2025 in the Molino III covered court.
APEC Schools Bacoor started off the Fun Week 2025 with the biggest event of today being the Sportsfest–but not before an unforgettable opening ceremony. A little after 8:45 a.m, in the wake of the torch lighting ceremony and a zumba led by the Performing Arts club, each of the four teams–Emerald, Sapphire, Amber, and Ruby–presented their talent and creativity during the field demonstration. One performance after the other left the judges and audiences in awe, dancing and singing along. To make the grand opening truly memorable, the candidates of the 2025 Mr. and Ms. Universality pageant made their grand entrance dressed in their sports attire, featuring Golf, Car Racing, Taekwondo, Tennis, and more, as they strutted towards the stage and made their introductions–a perfect prologue to both the Sportsfest and the pageant happening this friday.
After a short break, the first basketball game of the day commenced a few minutes after 10 a.m, in the Molino III court, between the Junior High School players of team Amber and team Ruby. After nearly an hour of competitive gameplay, team Amber reigned as champion, with a final score of 55, albeit with 4 team fouls and 3 personal, while Ruby scored 53. "It was fun, it's refreshing to see the students playing outside--I never thought they knew how to play[…]Usually in class they're very quiet,” said Miss Cloie Fudan, one of the team managers of team Amber. “I feel like a mom.” After another ten-minute break, the game between the Junior High players of Emerald and Sapphire began at 12:45 p.m.
Alas, after an hour of competitive play, team Emerald hailed as the winner, scoring an impressive 62 points, while Sapphire scored 35, but due to several minor injuries of players, some breaks were taken in between. “They need to be more ready for the sports[...]some players who are not ready need proper stretch-ups and to exercise before the game,” remarked Miss Len Ariola, one of the team managers of team Emerald, after the games of the Junior High students.
Subsequent to a break and a quick warmup, it was time for the Senior High School players to compete. First up was team Amber versus team Ruby. After another 50 or so minutes of play, team Amber won once again, led by their skilled captain ball, Earl Muhi, with a score of 78, while Team Ruby received a score of 64. Once again, another quick round of warming up, before it was team Emerald versus Sapphire. In the end, team Emerald took the cake, scoring 52 points, with the help of Richard Casalme’s striking performance, but of course, team Sapphire gave their all as well, scoring 41 points. “Even though they did not win, they enjoyed–that’s all that matters,” commented one of team managers of team Sapphire, Miss Audy Beldad, after all the games.
