On January 22 and 23, 2025, APEC Schools innovatively celebrated Sci-Math Month through exciting activities, namely Photography, Poster Making and TikTok Video and the heart-pounding Quiz Bee.
The Junior High School Quiz Bee took place on January 22, followed by the Senior High School Quiz Bee on January 23, 2025. This event is celebrated across APEC campuses to show how Science and Math help us understand the world and build a better future. This year’s theme, “Science, Technology, Innovation: Driving a Stable, Comfortable, and Secure Sustainable Future,” reminds us that both subjects are key to solving problems and creating a safer, smarter world.
Math and Science are two of the most essential parts of our lives. Science explains how things work, while Math provides the structure to understand and apply it. Without them, we wouldn't be able to make sense of the world or build the systems we rely on today. That is why we celebrate this day, to honor the contributions of fields like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, and more, all made possible through the power of Math and Science.
Since this day was an important day for people like the students of APEC, APEC Bacoor has announced a quiz bee to celebrate this day. junior high and senior high students were separated with their quiz bees. In junior high, they had 6 teams of 4 from different sections, while in senior high, they had 12 teams of 2. In this quiz bee, there are 3 rounds: Easy, Average, and Difficult. The easy round contained 10 questions with 1 point per correct answer in 30 seconds. The average round contained 8 questions with 2 points per correct answer in 45 seconds. The difficult round contained 6 questions with 3 points per correct answer in 60 seconds. On January 22 to 23, 2025, the quiz bee for the students began. Each competitor was focused and determined to deal with the difficult questions from many different topics, such as electricity, algebra, and geography for junior high and Calculus, Chemistry, and Physics for senior high. After the quiz bees for the students, the awarding ceremony was held on January 27, 2025, after the flag ceremony.
The winners of the junior high school students were Samantha Grace Zaragoza, Bea Cassandra Guanzon, Cean Marco Cabbo, and Ralph Clarence Buendia with 29 points, and the senior high school students winners were Wernher Paul Esmane and Patrick Al Cleope with 20 points. All the winners were congratulated with gold medals and were happy with what they had achieved.
In celebration of the event, the school organized activities where students could showcase their talents in poster making, photography, and TikTok video creation, all centered around the theme 'Science, Technology, Innovation: Driving a Stable, Comfortable, and Secure Sustainable Future.' These projects allowed students to explore the role of Science and Technology in shaping a sustainable future while honing their creative skills.
This celebration organized by APEC Bacoor was a valuable learning experience that enhanced students’ knowledge and creativity. It was a simple celebration but full of lessons that every student can take with them, as Science and Math is always a part of their lives.
