Education is one of the most powerful things to reach success. But how can many Filipino students’ dreams be achieved if financial struggles stand in the way? We have always said that education is one of the most powerful tools in order to reach success, but in the Philippines, how can we deny that many Filipino students are financially deprived?
Many Filipino students that are experiencing this need assistance in order to fulfill their academic goals and eventually enter the work field of their choice. How can ambitious Filipinos escape the burden of financial stress? Fortunately, there are both private and public sectors that grant scholarships.
According to an article written by Pia Roces Morato about the impact of scholarships on Philippine Star.com, “Education is a service department whose main goal is to produce educated men and women who will largely contribute to the economy as it is largely responsible for the development of our country’s human resources.”. This statement supports why granting multiple scholarships for Filipinos has a great impact on our economy because a knowledgeable student has a great contribution for the future of our country.
Multiple departments, agencies, universities, and companies like DOST (The Department of Science and Technology), CHED (The Commission on Higher Education), SM, The University of the Philippines, De La Salle University, and the like grant scholarships for people who are in need of financial aid. These scholarships not only provide financial aid for the needy but it provides motivation and drives students to reach their dreams.
Furthermore, on March 13, 2017, the 18 senators of the Philippines passed the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act created by Aquino,. This gives help to the students who struggle financially as it offers free tuition in public universities and colleges.
Scholarships open many doors for Filipino students. Truly everybody has a dream, and scholarships serve as a stepping stone, an open door, for each Filipino student that creates a positive impact not only for students to succeed but also for the future of our country. What an absolute opportunity to succeed.
