I keep on scanning
But, the image does not get clearer
With traces of scars from yesterday,
How I wish, I did not gaze
The world may whisper and stare
Question my worth with stifling air
Yet my heart is caged with a spark so bright
A light that can’t be dimmed
Without putting up a fight
I am one with the waves, and I follow the tides
Searching for nothing, not even a valentine
Though my gaze upon a mirror is a decline
I am free, no chains nor leash that may confine
The tides may pull me out or sink me in
But I stand still, no matter the scars on my skin
Through every pounding loss and every achieving win
I will rise again, seeping the life to begin
