Arotahi is the expression of our Special Character in the learning of our students. It is the myriad of individualised pathways our ākonga (students) create as they lead their learning, encompassing the NZ Curriculum and so much more. The tools within these pages are here to support and spark new ideas and include opportunities for linking career pathways and specific people to help resource this journey within our kura and the wider community.
Students and whānau (family) will work closely with their Learning Advisor (LA) in Individual Education Meetings (IEMs) and throughout the term to design arotahi pathways. These pathways can include many goals over a range of passions, interests, and challenges, or they can be only one. The intention is for students to design and lead their learning, encompassing creative, innovative, academic and diverse ideas, either independently or with peers.
Mapping out an arotahi pathway is then recorded in our school Learning Management system, also called Arotahi, which can be found underneath the A at the top of our front page on the school website.
Whānau support at IEMs and throughout the term is key to our students realising their arotahi journeys in the Homebase, class, or in the community as they connect with businesses, artists, experts, museums, art galleries, and fieldwork. The possibilitites are endless.
Each of the kete below gives further details regarding arotahi for differing age groups, including possible templates, helpful websites and arotahi examples.
