About Me
I live in Waterville with my spouse and our fur-babies but I am no stranger to this area. I grew up in Skowhegan where I was very active in the music program at Skowhegan Area High School.
I received my Bachelors Degree in Music Education from the University of Maine, Orono. At UMaine, I was a proud member of the Pride of Maine Black Bear Marching Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band and University Singers.
I started teaching music right out of college in 1998. My first job was at the Dr. Lewis S. Libby School in Milford, ME where I was the general music teacher for grades Pre-K to 8th grade, band, chorus, and show show choir director for grades 5-8, and drama director for grades 3-8. I also taught general music and band at Viola Rand School in Bradley, ME, Alton Elementary School in Alton, ME and Beach Hill School in Otis, ME.
I've found my happy place at Winslow Elementary School teaching PreK-6th grade music. Since my arrival in 2015, I have added the Little Kids Rock modern band program to our curriculum. We now have a huge inventory of acoustic guitars and ukuleles, as well as several electric guitars, electric basses, keyboards and drum sets. I also started the WES Theater Club where we've done productions such as Lion King Kids, Alice In Wonderland Jr., and Annie Jr.
In the fall of 2016, I also started the Winslow Jr. High School Show Choir.
When I'm not teaching or planning the next great performance, I love being at home. I love to cook, bake, and I'm the cake decorator for all major family events. Since owning a home, I have tried gardening...it's a work in progress. I spend most of my time entertaining our rescue dogs, relaxing and watching movies or reruns of my favorite TV show FRIENDS.
I love going to live concerts. My first live concert was New Kids on the Block when I was 14 and Summer 2019 I got to see them again at TD Garden for their Mixtape Tour. I felt 14 all over again!!! My favorite concert of all time was P!nk. She was an AMAZING performer!
I really love to go see live musicals. My first musical was The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway when I was 13 years old. It was amazing! The musical I would see over and over again is Wicked.
I love the beach or being near water when the weather is nice. I have been known visit a beach on a sunny day in February! These are my favorite places to make lasting memories.
