10/18/23

We are nearing the end of our maps and globes unit for social studies. We will be moving on to Mystery Science within the next couple of weeks. The first science unit is called “The Birth of Rocks”. We are almost finished with the first math unit on place value. The writing topic is still narrative. Our first reading unit is all about facing challenges. Some skills we have been working on are writing summaries, determining the theme of a text, and making inferences.

We have been practicing new rules and routines for the first couple of weeks. These include lining up in ABC order, participating in morning meeting, bathroom expectations, and many more. Students are in the process of taking a math and reading diagnostic assessment on Chromebooks. They will soon be able to work on individual lessons based on their diagnostic performance. Our first math unit is all about place value and will begin next week. The writing topic for the first trimester is small moment narratives. We will begin the year with social studies, learning about maps and globes.
