Sound is what we hear. It happens when something vibrates (shakes back and forth) and makes the air move. The air then carries the vibrations to our ears, and our brain tells us what the sound is.
Examples:
When you clap your hands, the clap makes the air move, and you hear a sound.
When a guitar string is plucked, it vibrates and makes music.
When a bell rings, it shakes the air around it, and you can hear it.
Fun fact:
Sound needs something to travel through, like air, water, or even walls. It canβt travel through empty space (like in space!).
Simple way to remember:
Vibration β air moves β ear hears β brain listens
