Exam board Edexcel AD01/02 Art & Design Unendorsed.
Exam paper given out in January of Year 11 which indicates a theme to investigate.
Students have 12 preparatory weeks in which to conduct research, investigations, experimentations to lead to an idea for the final outcome to be completed in the final exam.
Five hours each day in either AR1 or AR2.
At the end of the exam students should have completed a final piece to conclude the ESA unit and all work for the ESA unit including all preparatory work (sketchbook) is handed in.

Tips and advice for success:
Leading up to the exam, students should be setting weekly targets alongside teacher-led ones to ensure progress remains consistent and that all preparatory tasks have been completed in order to fully demonstrate each assessment objective.
Be prepared for the exam by giving plenty of time for trialing ideas and using a range of materials so you will be confident that your final outcome truly reflects your best ability
Ensure you continue to refer to the Edexcel Exemplar Library to check standards of work are inline with target levels
Be mindful of the four marking objectives and ensure these are fully demonstrated throughout the ESA unit.

Start with Section A, these short questions serve as a warm up.
Ensure every ‘explain’ question contains a connective [which may…] to develop the point.
Ensure you read the case studies carefully, using a highlighter pen to draw out key facts.
Apply facts from the case studies [they contain major clues as to the answers].
Do not ‘make things up’ - if it’s not mentioned in the case study it’s not true.
Learn and practice the required structure for the 6, 9 and 12 mark questions - it’s vitally important.

This exam will test your understanding of computer systems. It includes a mix of short and medium-answer questions, and an 8-mark extended response question where you'll need to provide detailed, reasoned arguments.
Paper 2: Computational Thinking, Algorithms & Programming

Tips and advice for success:
The Paper consists of 15% Maths, this is year 9 level and most focus on ratios, percentages, scale, working out differences and reading graphs. Make sure you have checked your understanding of these key skills.
Use RAG rating on PLC to help you organise which areas you will need to work on.
The Exam is 2 hours long, you will need to use all of that time, if you find yourself finishing early, look back at higher mark questions and try to explain your point, or give an opinion on the demonstrated facts.
Use state, explain, evaluate for 3 mark or above questions. E.G. it is… because… therefore…
Read questions carefully and look for what they are asking you. A 3 mark question may ask you to give one example, giving 3 will still limit you to 1 mark.
