Last week in our high school Geometry class, students took on a VR (Virtual Reality) Geometry maze, solving puzzles and answering questions about parallelograms.
To make it through and escape the maze, they had to use their knowledge to prove important properties of parallelograms. It was a fun and interactive way to learn Geometry and keep math exciting!
The ninth-graders had an exciting experience exploring the genre of fantasy books in their English Language Arts (ELA) class. They studied fascinating characters, vibrant settings, and the challenges that bring these stories to life.
Their adventure continued as they were inspired by their readings to create their own captivating fantasy stories, which they later shared with the second and third graders. This enjoyable collaboration not only enhanced the younger students' understanding of fantasy but also encouraged a sense of imagination among different age groups.
In sixth grade Earth and Space Science, students collected evidence to demonstrate Earth's rotation by observing phenomena like sunrise and sunset (day and night), the apparent motion of stars, the Coriolis effect, and the Foucault pendulum.
Understanding these concepts is essential because it helps students grasp fundamental principles of physics and astronomy. This knowledge not only fosters critical thinking and observation skills but also lays a solid foundation for future studies in science, encouraging curiosity and a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
Our seventh grade scientists used Virtual Reality headsets to explore various terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, ranging from hot, arid deserts to snowy, freezing taigas. They learned about the unique biodiversity found in each environment. This immersive experience enriched their scientific understanding while allowing them to stay in the classroom.
We are thrilled to announce four of our 9th and 10th-grade students participating in the Global Problem-Solving Institute hosted by Pioneer Academics. In the Analyzing AI course, they explore the intricacies of artificial intelligence while applying systems thinking, design thinking, and economic principles to tackle real-world issues. Upon completing the course, they will be awarded college credit.
These students are: Isabel Yun, Luciana Cruz, Emma Lugo, Sireen Khatib.
