Internship Showcase 9th and 10th Grade
At ANS, our senior students are embarking on a transformative journey through the capstone project, a culmination of their academic experience that fosters deep learning and practical application. This project allows seniors to explore diverse topics, from law and architecture to engineering and sports, gaining confidence in their chosen fields.
By developing and teaching CLAW classes, such as "Lawyers in the Making" and "Introduction to Engineering and Design," our students hone essential skills like public speaking, critical thinking, and leadership. These projects not only enhance their academic focus but also equip them with valuable life skills such as time management, self-discipline, and collaboration.
Our students have had the opportunity to intern at prominent organizations such as Tigo, BANPRO, RostiPollo, and Hospital Bautista. These experiences provide students with real-world exposure, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings. Off-campus internships offer valuable networking opportunities and help students develop essential professional skills.
In addition to off-campus opportunities, our students have also participated in on-campus internships within departments like Student Life, Marketing & Communications, Math Fellow, and Science Fellow.
These internships provide students with the opportunity to contribute to the ANS community while gaining leadership skills, such as project management and team collaboration. On-campus internships foster a sense of community and allow students to apply their skills in a familiar environment, often leading to meaningful contributions.
As we continue to enrich our students' language skills in Spanish, French, and Chinese, we also emphasize the rich cultural heritage that underpins each language. Through engaging activities such as storytelling, multimedia resources, and interactive games, our students not only improve their linguistic abilities but also gain a deeper understanding of the cultural contexts that shape language use.
Upcoming Celebrations: Connecting Language to Culture
We are excited about the upcoming events that will further immerse our students in the vibrant traditions and stories of these languages. Here are a few highlights:
Our students will learn about the customs and traditions surrounding this festive occasion, gaining insights into the cultural practices that define Chinese communities worldwide.
In February, a group of eight students and two administrators will embark on a cultural exchange trip to France. This immersive experience will allow them to experience French culture by visiting renowned museums, savoring exquisite local cuisine, and practicing the French language in a real-world setting.
This week in Physical Science, our students explored an exciting question: How does the mass of an object influence the time it takes to fall to the ground? They engaged in hands-on experiments, where they designed and carried out their own tests with different masses while carefully observing the outcomes.
Through analyzing their results, students examined the connection between gravity, mass, and acceleration, which helped them gain a deeper understanding of these important scientific principles. It's been a wonderful opportunity for them to learn through discovery and inquiry!
As we approach the beginning of the second semester, we're excited to share with you the upcoming opportunities for our juniors. Here are some key highlights:
Starting this month, juniors will participate in weekly sessions focusing on the college search and application process, equipping them with the tools needed to select suitable universities and submit strong applications
We're using BridgeU to facilitate college and career research, including personality assessments. You and your child will have access to this platform, and we'll guide you through its features this month.
This month, we'll host a parent session on Jan. 23rd to provide insights into the college application process. Additionally, individual meetings will be scheduled with students and parents to discuss personalized goals and pathways.
These initiatives are designed to support your child's future planning and success, and we look forward to working closely with you throughout this important journey.
