Halloween Classroom Celebrations
Third-graders recently enjoyed a visit from ninth-grade authors who shared their captivating fantasy stories filled with thrilling adventures, complex characters, and magical worlds. Together, they explored what makes fantasy storytelling special, emphasizing the joy of reading and writing across different ages.
With this activity, our ninth-graders play a vital role in bridging the gap between generations by mentoring younger students. This interaction not only supports academic growth but also strengthens the sense of collaboration and community within the school.
We had a delightful art session where our Tiny Picassos unleashed their creativity with the Paper Pumpkin activity! This project is essential for young students as it promotes fine motor skills and encourages imaginative expression. By creating their own pumpkins children develop important skills that will benefit them in their overall development.
Developing fine motor skills is essential for:
Academic Readiness: Fine motor skills are essential for tasks like writing, cutting, and drawing, which are fundamental in school settings.
Independence: As children develop fine motor skills, they become more capable of performing daily tasks, such as buttoning shirts, tying shoelaces, and self-feeding, fostering a sense of independence.
Cognitive Development: Engaging in activities that enhance fine motor skills, like puzzles or building blocks, can also promote problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
Social Interaction: Many fine motor activities are done in groups, helping children develop social skills.
Confidence Building: As kids improve their fine motor skills, they gain confidence in their abilities.
Coordination and Control: Developing fine motor skills also aids in hand-eye coordination and overall physical control.
Our primary students recently traveled to Leon to explore the life of Ruben Dario. During the trip, they visited Casa Museo Dario and the Cathedral in Leon, where they took notes on the historical and literary facts related to Ruben Dario's life.
Students prepared for the trip by analyzing and interpreting poems by Rubén Darío, while also learning about the historical and social context of his works. This experience will help prepare them for the upcoming Jornada Dariana.
