Mentorship between older and younger students at ANS plays a crucial role in fostering academic growth and building community. Our 4th graders have the unique opportunity to teach math skills to Pathways students in collaboration with their teachers each week.
This initiative not only reinforces the 4th graders' understanding of foundational math concepts, such as multi-digit multiplication, fractions, and measurement, but also enhances their leadership and communication skills.
Our Pathways students are always delighted to visit with older students creating strong relationships between peers.
At ANS, we prioritize fostering curiosity and innovation from an early age. Every Monday, our Pathway students explore the exciting realm of robotics using the Indi Sphero robot, which reads colors to perform specific tasks.
This hands-on experience allows students to discover the robot's capabilities, including how it moves, aligns colors with directions, and recognizes patterns. As students engage in this learning process, they develop essential problem-solving strategies while enhancing their teamwork skills.
Students collaborate, share ideas, and maintain their curiosity, all while enjoying the learning experience. This approach not only makes robotics accessible but also cultivates a love for STEM education among young learners.
Imagine a world where young minds are empowered to express their ideas and engage in meaningful discussions—this is exactly what the "Rising Dale ANS 2nd Edition" event offers for our 4th and 5th graders. Members of our high school debate team are taking the lead in teaching essential debate skills, creating an exciting opportunity for younger students to explore important topics. This initiative not only fosters confidence but also encourages a culture of collaboration and respect for diverse viewpoints.
During the event, students will be grouped into seven committees, including the OAS Permanent Council, United Nations Security Council, and Press Committees. They will tackle thought-provoking subjects such as the use of screens, environmental protection, and the rights of indigenous communities. By engaging in this parliamentary-style debate format, students will learn to articulate their arguments effectively while considering opposing perspectives.
The event will culminate in a closing ceremony where certifications will be awarded to the best delegates, celebrating their hard work and dedication throughout the day.
