Fuente Pura Cup
Sports have just kicked off for the school year, and our students are already diving into a variety of special events, for which they spent their summer months preparing.
Select athletes in individual sports, such as gymnastics and track & field, competed in the Departmental Games in Managua. Their goal was to qualify for the National Championships in Track & Field and the Central American Championships in Gymnastics.
First up are the Track & Field Nationals, where the following students will participate this Sunday, September 1st, and Monday, September 2nd, at the IND National Stadium, competing for the prestigious title of Nicaraguan National Champion in their individual events:
Alfonso Caldera: 600 & 1200m
Seungyoon Jung: 100 & 150m
Mauricio Mendieta: 300 & 600m
Brynn Kerr: 2000 & 600m
Vanessa Wheelock: 100m & Long Jump.
Alexia de Villers: High Jump
In Gymnastics ANS had multiple medal winners at their Departmental Games (see the attached graphic) and we will have 15 young athletes participating in the Central American Games:
We wish all our Gymnasts and the Track & Field Athletes the very best for their upcoming events. Stay tuned to socials for results and updates on their progress!
6th grade student Fernando Rodriguez successfully completed his First Dan Black Belt exam for Taekwondo after a year of hard work and preparation and is now waiting for his official certification to arrive from Korea.
Huge congratulations to Fernando for this incredible achievement.
MOTIVATION
We are thrilled to see our After School Sports program in full swing across all activities and age groups. We sincerely thank you for enrolling your child in the program, and we hope they are enjoying it as much as we are!
Record numbers of participants in Primary and Middle School have required us to adjust the dismissal for After School Sports.
Please take note of the following recommendations from our security team. If your child will be exiting through Gate 8 (CAA) or Gates 6 & 7 (pool and outside courts), these guidelines are especially important for you:
All vehicles should enter campus via the Main Gate and use the Red Line only, all the way to the CAA.
Vehicles picking up students at Gate 8, can leave the Red Line at this point and exit campus following the Blue Line.
Vehicles picking up students at Gates 6 and 7 must remain in the Red Line for the duration of their collection and leave campus following it.
PAW/CLAW Wednesdays are quickly becoming the highlight of the week in secondary and athletics is excited to offer students five sports-related options to choose from, each designed to promote health, activity, and happiness. It’s the perfect way to blow off some steam and get moving!
Once PAW/CLAW ends at 12:30 p.m., we also host a good number of sports practices between 1:00-2:30 p.m. for our entire Varsity program.
We would like to remind athletes and their families that the dismissal point at the end of these Wednesday practices is via the SOUTH GATE ONLY.
The only exception to this will be secondary students who have younger siblings and may leave via the gate of the youngest child.
Please ensure that when collecting your child after Wednesday varsity practices, you do so only via High School (South Gate) and avoid the general Primary Dismissal at gate 4.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation on this matter.
Varsity teams across the range of disciplines have been competing this week, our Track and Field team at Nationals, Boys Varsity Soccer playing a friendly game versus UNICA, and their first ‘Copa Fuente Pura’ game versus Inmaculada at the Sportslam Complex.
In Girls Varsity Soccer we welcomed Zacarias Guerra of ‘Primera Division Femenina’ for a friendly game, while our Boys Basketball team also saw two games this week, in a friendly game versus UAM, and in the ‘Liga Juvenil Luis Alfonso’ versus San Judas.
Girls Varsity Volleyball got their ‘Copa Fuente Pura’ underway versus Hispano with a 2-sets to 0 win.
Away from varsity, we hosted friendly games in U14 soccer as our boys welcomed the academy team of Managua FC of the ‘Primera Division Nacional’.
