After School Sports Begin
Aug. 30
Fuente Pura Cup
Begins
Sports begin next week and we are busy readying ourselves to receive the more than 600 students across the divisions who have signed up for our programs.
Parents have received confirmations and rosters, along with information regarding dismissal for sports, practice recommendations for each activity in Primary and Middle School, and digital copies of our After School Sports Manual, covering every aspect of extracurricular sports at ANS.
Our coaching team has been busy in a range of seminars relating to our mission & vision and guiding philosophy for sports, safety protocols and emergency preparedness, First Aid certification for the entire team, plus everything related to our day to day department procedures, both administrative and sporting.
We are now anxious to get started and meet the athletes next week, and have worked hard to prepare season plans that will see a wide range of exciting events and activities that we can all get behind as a community.
MOTIVATION
Sports Fair
We hosted our first ever “Sports Fair” last week, which saw a large number of families join us for the chance to learn more about our program, play sports, and most importantly, to sign our newly ANS After School Sports & Academy Participation Slip & Waiver introduced which has been introduced as policy for the upcoming sports season, and must be signed in person by parents/legal guardians of every student who will participate in sports at ANS for 2024/25.
If you were unable to join us for the Sports Fair, you are welcome to come by the Athletic Office to sign this important document.
Being on a Varsity Team in one of the 5 main sports on offer at ANS is a privilege for any student, especially when these athletes are selected to represent our school at AASCA events.
After we sat down with student athletes to outline the requirements we have for them to be part of our program, we also hosted meetings for parents of students who make up our varsity program, outlining the mission of our program, what changes have already been made to support this, what we will be introducing this year, and where we plan to go over the course of the season.
Information was shared regarding AASCA events and everyone left with a shared goal of seeing our students thrive as athletes and people.
ANS has a long standing strategic partnership with the National Basketball Federation and this relationship saw young players invited to a special clinic hosted by National Team Coach David Rosario, with special guest NCAA Division 1 college superstar and the first Nicaraguan tipped to play in the NBA, Norchad Omier.
ANS coaches chose a very select group of players from our school, based on strict criteria, and were privileged to also be in attendance at this event.
