Grade Point System (For the Class of 2024 and beyond - Students entering the 2020-21 school year the following grading policies apply):
The District shall include in the calculation of class rank semester grades earned in designated high school credit courses taken in grades 9–12 only. The calculation shall include failing grades.
Courses included in calculation of class rank and weighted GPA include only courses within thecore subjects (English, Math, Science, and Social Studies). Eligible courses include those core subject classes listed in the appropriate district publications. All other courses will be excluded from the calculation of the weighted GPA for the purposes of class rank.
Students may earn grades of 0–100 in their classes. The semester grades earned shall be recorded on the report card and permanent record. Cumulative grade point averages (GPAs) and class rank shall be determined by the semester grades and then recorded on the academic achievement record (transcript).
Students shall receive a segmented GPA that corresponds to the grade received for each semester of credit earned. The weight earned shall be based upon the tier classification and the grade earned for the course.
The district shall categorize and weigh eligible courses as Tier 3, Tier 2, and Tier 1 as designated in appropriate district publications.
Eligible core courses labeled as Advanced Placement (AP), Honors, and Dual Credit courses shall be categorized and weighted as Tier 3 courses.All other eligible core courses shall be categorized and weighted as Tier 2 courses. Eligible modified-content courses shall be categorized and weighted as Tier 1.
